Juice Cleanse - Day 2

I'm on the second day of my juice cleanse and feeling really good.  From what I've heard, the first day of a juice fast is the toughest and while I admit to feeling a bit peckish last night, I didn't have any headaches or moodiness at all.  Despite a fitful sleep, I awoke this morning at 6am feeling alert and ready for the day.  Today, I'm feeling a little "high".  Its the only way I know to describe it.  I feel very alert, calm and high.

I've been dining on home made green juice fresh from my Breville Juicer.  The ingredients I've been using in my juice are any combination of the following:  Romaine Lettuce, Kale, Spinach, Lemon, Gala Apple, Ginger, Cucumber, Celery, Green Cabbage, and Parsley.  When ever I feel that tell-tale hunger signal, I just juice up another glass.  Here is a photo of today's lunch in a 24oz to-go cup.

1.
For those of you who have done any kind of a cleanse,
what was your experience?
2.
For those of you who have not done a cleanse or fast,
have you ever thought about trying it out?  Why?

I've never done a juice fast, partially because I like the idea of masticating. Is it "cheating" if you chew gum? How often do you juice? I would like to try it out, though. I guess I would bring my stuff to juice at work, or juice in advance and leave it in the fridge up at the office.

Good luck and I'm eager to see your results!

Bianca, I had a friend who did a 7-day juice fast and she would juice an entire day of drinks in the morning and then take them to work in glass mason jars. She said it worked great! I juice four times a day and drink LOTS of water with lemon when I'm on a cleanse. I don't chew gum, but sometimes I'll chew on some chipped ice - like Sonic ice.

What is the advantage of juicing vs making a smoothie using the same basic ingredients you listed? I'm curious.

I can't wait to hear more about the fast. Once I am done nursing I plan to do one myself. I am a big fan of juicing but too nervous to do a fast while nursing...

ECW74 - My understanding is that when you are fasting or cleansing, you are giving your digestive system a hiatus so that your body can focus its attention on organ and tissue renewal. Of course your body can do both at one time -digest food and heal your tissues- but when the digestive system has a break, your natural restorative powers kick into high gear. So a smoothie, would require your digestive system to break down the fiber and eliminate the waste. Juicing allows the body to get the same nutrients with far less work. It is also my understanding that when your body is eliminating your most recent meals - many of which are backed up in your system - it cannot eliminate the deeper, older waste that's clogging up the works. Thanks so much for your question! There are some great sites and books about juicing... I'll put together a little resource list for the blog!

Sounds so interesting and I will definitely read more. I see a juice fast in my future once I am finished nursing my fourth and last baby. I think my body could benefit from the healing restoration of a fast...

I am inspired to do a fast! I started yoga and I am so excited about how powerful it makes me feel even though I sweat buckets of water and I despise sweating. Actually, I despise working out. So much to my surprised when I enjoyed this power yoga and signed up for a couch to 5K plan. Whut? Whut?

Now I am going to look into this cleasing

I am so glad to find a fellow faster! I am on day 3 right now of my 40-day juice fast. This will be my third. My first was about 7 years ago, and I had huge success including being cured of hypothyroidism.

I am blogging about mine at:

On day one, I have a link to my first 40-day fast's blog. I hope we can support each other. You WON'T regret doing this!
