Carpe Diem

The Buddha says "there are two mistakes one can make along the road to truth... not going all the way and not starting."  For my purposes the quote should read "there are two mistakes one can make along the road to a smaller Sarah... not going all the way and not starting."  So this is it.  I am starting now.  The goal?  I'm giving myself one year to lose seventy-five pounds.

Why now?  I was inspired by Kelly from SKINNY, who has recently embarked on "a journey to skinny jeans".  Some of you know me from my other blog, La Maison Boheme, where I post about interior design and bohemian living.  Smaller Sarah will be a different kind of blog - a tool for me to document my journey, stay accountable and remain focused on my goal.

If this sounds like something you are interested in, I encourage you to follow along and join me!  I have a section on my sidebar for teammates who are also on the journey to a healthier, happier life.  If you'd like to be included, please leave a comment and I'll link to your blog!

I don't know what lies ahead, but I'm ready to finally take the first step.
Carpe diem!

Hello to your new blog.

Hi!
On the journey too. Here is what keeps me going: I had John take 3 pictures of me in my bra and underwear -- one front, one side and one back. I didn't "suck it in" -- just stood there naturally.
For some reason that small act has totally helped.
They are my "before" shots. Can't wait to get to the "after" pics!!
One day at a time.

I am reading Feeding the Hungry Heart and Women Food and God by Geneen Roth-- it is helping me IMMENSELY-- I am an Amazon junkie and a weight loss junkie and this is introducing sanity to my diet head. You can do it!

This is wonderful! All the best on your journey Sarah! Baby steps. I suggest looking into vegetarian foods - you don't have to become fullout veggie, but they are much healthier for the most part but still filling. Just trading a couple main meals a week to something like this may help.

Also, can you make it so that I can put in just Name/URL for comments? My new blog doesn't fit into any of those categories and I have had a lot of trouble figuring out the openID thing.

Agata,I've witched the settings to allow easier commenting. I hope it helps. If not, let me know and I'll work on it again.

Thank you so much for your encouragement!!!

Great idea, Sarah!

I'm also looking at my eating and exercise. Both my parents are diabetic and I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant the last time. So, I have very strong reasons, to change the direction of my waistline!

I have a blog that I barely ever tend, but perhaps this is a good incentive to blog more, and as they say, be accountable.

I'm in!

Good luck Sarah! Go for it and I know you can do it!!!

I recently set a goal for myself at the beginning of the year. . . to loose 30 lbs and keep it off (the hardest part.) Although I haven't had any babies, I definitely packed on a few lbs over the last two years. Well, I feel like shouting from the roof tops about how amazing this book is and how useful it has been for me for the last several months. I've officially lost the 30lbs and have kept it off for over 2 months now. Seriously, it changed my life so I thought I would share it with you if you are interested. . .

Good luck, girl! I think the blog is an excellent idea and I look forward to reading more!
