Small Kitchen Appliances

I think I'm ready to invest in two new kitchen appliances.  To really make my semi raw food diet work better, I would love to have a good blender and a great juicer.  Any recommendations out there?  What brand works best for you?  I'll be using them every day so they have to be hefty, as well as easy to clean and operate.  Then I can start making stuff like this:

I had a client who used a vitamix. It was amazing. but like $500. But for a lifetime of raw eating it would be worth it.

We have a Waring blender that's super simple but works really well. It was a splurge but the glass pitcher piece has lasted so much longer than any plastic one we've ever had. It only has two settings but it can do everything from blending cucumbers and tomatoes for gazpacho, to ice, frozen fruit and almonds for smoothies. (I found some here http://www.amazon.com/Waring-MBB518-Professional-Beverage-Stainless/dp/B00004S8F8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1312057752&sr=8-1)
